In her solo exhibition the artist Annika Kahrs presents a new video work providing a musical interpretation, in collaboration with the composer Louis d’Heudières and musicians from Los Angeles, of the acoustic signal of gravitational waves. The starting-point and basis for the work is the famous “chirp sound” which served as the empirical prove of gravitational waves generated over 1.8 billion years ago by the merging of two black holes and was recorded at the US-based LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) in 2015.
The exhibition opening will take place on September 13 at 6 p.m. at the Schering Stiftung.
