July 31 – August 12, 2008
With the support of the Schering Stiftung the TANZLABOR_21 organised for the first time the International Summer Lab for students and professional artists. It took place at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfort/ Main from July 31st until August 12th, 2008. The Lab addressed to international young artists, to future dancers and dance educators, choreographers, dramatic advisers, stage designers, producers, cultural managers, singers, actors and musicians. It offered a possibility of collective working, researching, learning, trying, seeing, hearing and reflecting.
More essential than studying methods, craft and technique was the encounter with outstanding figures in art and the formation of one’s own position and point of view.
The Summer Lab was a communicative forum between practice and theoretical reflection of contemporary art forms. Its focus lied on contemporary dance. Like almost no other art form, contemporary dance opens up inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations on the borderlines of dance, performance and installation.
This education project was framed by an international evening program. Here, the participants of the workshop could experience the works of the teaching artists, in order to then, with this experience get a more direct approach to their work. The Frankfurt public also showed a great interest in the performances.
