The Schering Stiftung awards the Ernst Schering Prize 2026 to Prof. Dr. Henrik Kaessmann from the Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH). He receives the 50,000-euro award for his pathbreaking discoveries on the evolution of gene regulation and the emergence of new genes.

This year’s Schering Young Investigator Award will be presented to Dr. Can Aztekin, a group leader at the Friedrich-Miescher-Laboratory of the Max Planck Society in Tübingen. The scientist is honored for his groundbreaking work in the field of regenerative biology.

The award will be presented on November 17, 2026, during a festive award ceremony at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities together with the established Ernst Schering Prize to Henrik Kaessmann.
