Standortwechsel is a residency program at the Berlinische Galerie for children and young people, people with disabilities, and people with an imigration background. The program invites collectives, associations, social service organizations – i.e., people who are themselves affected by exclusion or who work with people who are. At the invitation of the erlinische Galerie and Jugend im Museum, they can work for a year at the museum, get to know the collections, and contribute their perspectives to the museum’s educational and cultral work.
The program is designed to bring new voices and views on art to the museum. Standortwechsel offers a space for solidarity and social cooperation and is committed to practicing and promoting social inclusion in art museums.
Since March 2024, children and young people aged 8 to 13 from the children’s after-school project Kleine Ritterburg have met at the Berlinische Galerie. The Kleine Ritterburg is located in the immediate vicinity of the museum and offers educational and counseling programs to disadvantaged families.
Inspired by the museum’s collections and special exhibitions, the participants experiment with different artistic techniques. They photograph, draw, paint with henna, knit, and dance. Additional visual and sound works are to follow.
