Five Modules to Success
After the successful completion of two courses, in 2006/2007 and 2008/2009 respectively, the third round of the management training, which consists of five modules, is scheduled to start in July 2010:

Project and Financial Management
For the first time, this course will include a personal mentoring program, i.e. every participant will be individually supported by a senior scientist for the duration of the program.
The course is conducted in German.
In addition to their research and teaching responsibilities, scientists nowadays are increasingly confronted with management tasks. The managerial basics, however, are not taught as part of their university education. To fill this gap, the Schering Stiftung, in cooperation with the Center for Science & Research Management in Speyer, has developed the Young Leaders in Science program.
The program aims to provide young scientists in the natural and life sciences with the communication and management basics necessary to direct their own research group. It thus seeks to facilitate the young scientist’s transition from being a staff member without leadership tasks to becoming a leader with personnel and financial responsibilities. The program provides young leaders with both the knowledge and the necessary instruments to help them meet their responsibilities.
