On the occasion of the 39th edition of transmediale, the Schering Stiftung hosts a listening session titled Ouverture by Chilean artist Nicole L’Huillier. The Session is conceived and presented in collaboration with Colombian sound artist and producer Nyksan. It revolves around the interactive Dream-Drums, created originally for the 36th Ljubljana Biennial in 2025. Dream-Drums are sculptures and/or instruments fitted with elastic microphone membranes that transform touch into sound. The sounds resulting from playing the drums are digitally processed and combined with dreamy textures and drone compositions based on Theta (4-8 hz) and Alpha waves (8-13 Hz). They fill the space and resonate with the brainwave activity and heartbeat patterns of the listeners. This way the visitors are guided into states of rest such as relaxation, meditation, dreaming, or mind wandering. All of those are of major importance to health and well-being as they encourage the processing of emotions, cause stress relief, and enhance creativity. The listening session can be considered as a beginning of the collaboration between Schering Stiftung and the artist. Opening on April 23, 2026, L’Huillier’s first solo show in Berlin titled Rehearsal Room will be presented at the Schering Stiftung.
