In her first institutional solo exhibition in Berlin, the artist Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld presents an experimental photographic work: She sprinkles different liquids, including dissolved hormones such as estrogen, oxytocin, and testosterone, onto developed photo negatives. In addition, Schönfeld uses hormone-based drugs from reproductive and obstetric medicine such as the contraceptive pill, the abortion pill, and the so-called “morning-after pill.” The used substances refer to the different facets of women’s reproductive functions and their manipulative control.
The exhibition opening will take place on September 11 at 6 p.m. at the Schering Stiftung.
