The residency program starts in September 2024.
The Schering Stiftung supports the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD), one of the six national Centers of Excellence for AI Research, in implementing its artist-in-residence program Art of Entanglement. BIFOLD is a cross-university central institute at TU Berlin and the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. It conducts basic research in Machine Learning and Big Data Management and at their intersections. The almost year-long residency program enables artists to engage in an intensive dialogue with BIFOLD’s leading AI researchers and to gain in-depth insights into Big Data Management and Machine Learning.
During their stay at BIFOLD, the artists have the opportunity to intensively interact with the researchers, which lays the groundwork for a creative fusion of art and science. This dialogue will not only foster the understanding between the two disciplines but also generate new perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence. The residency program will result in an exhibition at the UNI_VERSUM – TU Berlin Exhibition Space, which will make the developed concepts and works accessible to the public. The participating artists will be selected through a nomination process, with a particular focus on Berlin-based artists who engage with the interfaces between technology, data science, and creative practice.
The first joint edition of this program kicks off in September 2024 and promises to be an exciting start for a fruitful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities of AI.
