What is the right way to begin? How to let go? What helps us get over a separation? Does it even make psychological sense to get “over” something in order to start something new? Or aren’t our lives defined by perpetual departures: from the cradle to the grave – everything remains different!

“There is a magic in every beginning” – this sentence by Hermann Hesse is emblematic of the positive connotation of new beginnings! But not every beginning is a voluntary one – just think of annoying board game rules or entire lives being rebuilt after losses. As the renovations are about to begin, the Komische Oper Berlin too embarks on an eventful journey to new places across Berlin’s neighborhoods – and the final salon of the Komische Oper Berlin and the Schering Stiftung becomes a lab for farewells and departures.
