On September 5, 2023, the Schering Stiftung awards its two prestigious science prizes for pioneering basic research in medicine, biology, and chemistry in Berlin.
The Schering Stiftung awards the Ernst Schering Prize 2023 to Prof. Dr. Matthias Tschöp. He will be honored for his groundbreaking discovery of the hunger hormone grehlin, his dissection of the gut-brain signaling pathways, and the discovery of new classes of drugs that for the first time make it possible to normalize body weight and blood sugar levels in patients with obesity. The prize comes with a prize money of 50,000 euros.
The Schering Stiftung awards the Friedmund Neumann Prize 2023 to Na Cai, DPhil, for her outstanding work in psychiatric genetics and her contributions to our basic understanding of neuropsychiatric diseases, especially depression. The research award comes with a prize money of 10,000 euros.
