What are dreams – states of consciousness experienced during sleep or diffuse information that can be organized logically only upon waking up? What realities can be found, in altered form, in a dream? Are they at all connected to our everyday reality and if so, how? How can we best grasp these realities? Neurophysiologically? Psychoanalytically? Philosophically? Or aesthetically, like in Shakespeare’s/Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream?
GUESTS: Prof. Dr. Jan Born (neuroscientist, sleep and memory researcher, University of Tübingen), Prof. Dr. Marianne Leuzinger-Bohleber (psychoanalyst; director, Sigmund Freud Institute, Frankfurt/Main)
WITH: Singers and musicians of the Komische Oper Berlin
MODERATORS: Johanna Wall and Rainer Simon
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (performances on October 3, 15 & 31, 2014)
