Our society is permanently confronted with current challenges: the war in Ukraine, inflation, climate collapse, social justice, the quality of education, the preservation of cultural diversity. Only by pooling forces and resources and by supporting each other, can we mobilize creativity, innovative power, and far-sightedness and strengthen civil society, so that it can play a major role in tackling these challenges.
Together with the Senate Department for Justice and Consumer Protection, we will discuss how to boost the creative power of Berlin’s civil society. What is the responsibility and role of foundations and the foundation oversight authority? What are the challenges and opportunities of foundation law reform? How can we have an equal dialogue, and what are the conditions under which those responsible operate? What does our society need NOW?
These and other questions will be discussed by Dr. Felor Badenberg, Senator for Justice and Consumer Protection, Prof. Dr. Annette Zimmer, political scientist at the University of Münster, and Arne Treves, co-initiator and director of Re:Form. The event will be moderated by author and podcaster Gottfried Haufe and introduced by Bianca Richardt, executive director of the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor.
You are warmly invited to contribute to the initiated dialogue and to use the subsequent reception for informal networking.
Held collaboratively between the Koepjohann’schen Stiftung, the Schering Stiftung, and the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor, the event is part of the Berlin Foundation Week (April 1–11, 2025), with this year’s focus on “… and Justice and Freedom.” More information on the Berlin Foundation Week can be found at https://www.berlinerstiftungswoche.eu/.
