On November 12, 2024, the Schering Stiftung awards its two prestigious science prizes for pioneering basic research in medicine, biology, and chemistry in Berlin.
The Schering Stiftung awards the Ernst Schering Prize 2024 to Maiken Nedergaard, M.D., D.M.is honored for her discovery of the glymphatic system, which effectively removes toxins from the brain. Her innovative research reveals promising new pathways for the treatment of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. The prize comes with a prize money of 50,000 euro.
The Schering Stiftung awards the Friedmund Neumann Prize 2024 to Prof. Dr. med. Carolin Schneider for her outstanding contributions to the prevention and therapy of gastrointestinal and metabolic diseases. Special mention was made of her innovative use of big data and artificial intelligence to develop personalized prevention strategies for metabolic diseases. The research award comes with a prize money of 10,000 euros.
