November 18, 2019, 5:30–7 p.m.
With Anna Virnich
The event is fully booked.
Scent Club Berlin invites you to dive into the olfactory dimensions of Anna Virnich’s exhibition “Hyperdrüse”. In a month-long development process with the artist, Scent Club Berlin created scents for the installation. Now, with the help of the workshop participants, they are to be broken down into their individual components – at least mentally. The compact workshops are intended to develop a conscious exchange about the different olfactory perceptions, the olfactory memories and, associated with them, the personal stories of the participants.
Scent Club Berlin is an artistic collective and community of people that come together to research, produce projects and collaborate, focusing on the sense of smell. The group focuses on scent and olfaction as a medium for art, science, technology, expression and experimentation. Since its inception, the group has created interactive installations and tours in galleries and museums such as MMOMA Moscow, Hamburger Bahnhof, and Martin Gropius Bau in which the visitors are not only observers, but become participants in the work. The community of smell enthusiasts meets monthly and anyone interested in experimenting with the sense of smell is invited to join to share their knowledge and curiosity to connect with other smell enthusiasts. The meetups range from lectures by biologists, artists and chemists, to distillations, scent experiments, discussions and more.
Scent Club Berlin has been working together since 2015. Current core members include sound artist Max Joy, artist Alanna Lynch, designer Mareike Bode, artist Eeva-Liisa Puhakka, artist Chaveli Sifre Riestra and photographer Aleksandra Pawlowska.
