The birth control pill has revolutionized family planning by giving women greater control over their bodies. Today, however, it is increasingly viewed critically. In her lecture, Dr. Mandy Mangler, a medical doctor known from the “Gyncast” podcast, will explain the pill’s medical advantages and risks. She will explore the changing perspectives on the contraceptive pill – from groundbreaking invention to source of health concerns.

In addition to illuminating the pill’s medical aspects, Dr. Mangler will also talk about its social and political role.

Following the lecture, Dr. Mandy Mangler and Sophia Wagemann, a medical history researcher at Charité Berlin, will engage in a discussion about the development of contraceptive methods and changing ideas about health and medicine. They will look at how opinions on the side effects and safety of contraceptives have changed over time.
