January 01 – December 31, 2023
In 2023, the Schering Stiftung will support the artist residencies as part of the “Max – Artists in Residence at Brandenburg Schools” program of Sybille Zeh at a special-needs and elementary school in Bernau, of Annett Glöckner at the Protestant School in Neuruppin, and of Catrin Große at the Sonnewalde Elementary School. It is a program of the Plattform Kulturelle Bildung Brandenburg, on the initiative of the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor.
The Foundation has supported the program at different places in Berlin and Brandenburg since 2019. Max stipulates that artists move into a studio at schools in Berlin or Brandenburg for at least one school year. In addition to their own artistic work, they work with the students and explore a variety of topics artistically. To do so, they open their studio one day a week. Max’s distinguishing feature is the encounters and artistic working processes among artists, students, and teaching staff.
Following the success of Max in Berlin and at the three Brandenburg locations in Bernau, Neuruppin, and Sonnewalde, the 2014 residence program is scheduled to be extended to the rural area around Pritzwalk, Brandenburg.
“Max – Artists in Residence at Brandenburg Schools” is a program of the Plattform Kulturelle Bildung Brandenburg initiated by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor and funded by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the State of Brandenburg and the Schering Stiftung.
The Plattform Kulturelle Bildung Brandenburg is a department of the Brandenburgische Gesellschaft für Kultur und Geschichte gGmbH, which is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture of the State of Brandenburg and the State Capital of Potsdam.
