“Perspective Isomorphs” are at the heart of an exhibition presenting the findings of an unusual transdisciplinary research project between art and organic chemistry at JLU Giessen.

In an experimental research setting, the epistemological principles and representation modes of the central perspective are transferred to chemistry to develop systematically changed ideas about molecules and alternative representation modes of atoms. In addition, there emerges a dialogue about the disciplinary limits of modelling and transdisciplinary forms of visualization.

As part of the exhibition, the chemical analysis of these molecule groups will be linked with sketches made by the artists Patrick Borchers, Jette Flügge, and Christoph Kern. Their charcoal, whiteout, and graphite sketches also serve as computational variables for the novel system of molecule groups.

A transdisciplinary project by Prof. Dr. Ansgar Schnurr (Institute for Art Education), Prof. Dr. Hermann Wegner (Institute for Organic Chemistry), and Jannis Neumann (student of art education and biology), Justus Liebig University (JLU) Giessen. With sketches by Patrick Borchers, Jette Flügge, and Christoph Kern.
