We are daily challenged by the dignity of every single human being: We perceive and judge deviations from the behavior we expect. Often, however, there is only a fine line between obsession and genius, between melancholy and depression. The Schering Stiftung and the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor devote an evening of conversation to this topic to try to define the boundary between disease and health and to explore the historical and cultural contingency of psychiatric concepts of illness and their diagnoses. How tolerant should our society be, and can we define conditions that help those affected find their place in society?
