Tuesday – Saturday 12 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sundays and Holidays 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
In her works, the Polish-born multidisciplinary artist Agnieszka Kurant investigates phenomena of group dynamics and collective intelligence, as well as the impact of technology on notions of authenticity, individuality, one’s relationship to society, and the boundaries of privacy. Kunstverein Hannover presents the artist’s first major institutional solo exhibition in Germany, dedicating all its rooms to her work.
Kurant’s works could well be called alchemistic mutations of energy and matter. Like living organisms, they are subject to constant, quasi-evolutionary transformation. The artist creates conditions in which unpredicable, unstable forms – such as assemblages and amalgamations – emerge from complex systems of human and non-human milieus.
The exhibition brings together older works – some of which has been previously shown at the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; and Centre Pompidou, Paris – and new works that explore the impact of technology on transformations and concepts of plural subjectivity and collective agency. Some of the presented series of works were created as part of Kurant’s artist residency at MIT and in close collaboration with scientists.
