Since April 2014, the “Image Knowledge Gestaltung” cluster of excellence at Humboldt University of Berlin has helped foster young talents through a Germany Scholarship theme course supported by the Schering Stiftung. Again this year, fourteen students initiated and developed their own interdisciplinary research projects and realized them in cooperation with the cluster’s staff. The “Image Knowledge Gestaltung” theme course concludes with a public presentation of the scholarship recipients’ work, which takes place on March 28, 2017, at 6 p.m., at the cluster’s premises (Sophienstr. 22a, 10178 Berlin).
As part of its programs to promote young talents, the Schering Stiftung has participated in the Germany Scholarship program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since the 2012 summer term. Since the 2013 summer term, the Foundation has supported a pilot project called “theme course” at Berlin’s Humboldt University, where young scientists from a variety of disciplines gain insight into current research projects at an early stage in their studies and have the opportunity to develop and present their own ideas. Conversely, the participating scientists hope that the scholarship recipients’ thirst for knowledge and fresh views stimulates and inspires them to critically interrogate scientific theories, including their own, and develop new perspectives.
After the big success of the theme courses, the project will be continued in 2017/18 in cooperation with the “Image Knowledge Gestaltung” cluster of excellence.
