The Hans Herloff Inhoffen prize honors young scientists in the field of chemistry and the teaching of chemistry who render a particular service to teacher training or the practical teaching of chemistry in schools, universities and other educational institutions. The award is named for Hans Herloff Inhoffen (1906-1992), head of the main laboratory of Schering AG and professor of organic chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig, who took a particular interest in supporting talented young scientists.
The Hans Herloff Inhoffen Prize is valued at 2,500 euro and awarded by the Division on Chemical Education of the Society of German Chemists. In 2005 and 2007 the prize was funded by the Schering Stiftung.
